The son of a diving instructor, Rodney Bursiel was attracted to the marine world at a young age. Under the surface, he draws on the experience passed down by his father to immortalize the most beautiful specimens of the marine world. Orca, humpback whales, dolphins, sharks, manta rays… From the islands of Tonga to the coasts of Mexico, he has created a series of portraits of a whole new variety.
A fervent defender of the environment, photographer Michel Aw has made a name for himself through underwater photography. His mission? To use his photographs to inspire the love of our ocean and all of its inhabitants. For this series, this image creator selected a number of shots taken on his underwater expeditions. Inspired by Van Gogh’s expressionism, he retouches his images in post-production to present an artistic vision of the oceans.
“Through skin diving, you escape everything,” says American photographer John Kowitz. “You escape from gravity, noise, and the stresses of life to dive among a wondrous new world full of extraordinary creatures.” Hawaii, Bahamas, Costa Rica… John Kowitz explores tropical waters the world over, armed with his lens. This lover of the ocean depths started his career as a skin diving instructor, but could not keep the beauty of what he sees underwater to himself. He trained as a photographer and gradually became a reference in underwater photography. Divers, underwater animals, and aquatic settings, he immortalizes the incredible life found under the sea. Through his shots, he hopes to encourage viewers to explore and protect the oceans.
