Originally from Poland, Monika Nowak was born in Clermont-Ferrand. She moved to Paris to study at the Beaux-Arts and the Ecole supérieure des arts et des industries graphiques. After graduating, she worked for private companies as a creative director, but soon decided to create for herself. Her photos feature women she wishes to be "powerful and in control of [their] seduction." She makes them evolve in a resolutely pop universe in which the shadow of Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein hovers. After a photo shoot, she may well associate the eyes of one of her models with the mouth of another: "by exaggerating certain aspects of femininity, while maintaining a certain overall realism, I recreate a kind of ideal, imaginary chimera," she points out. Moreover, her women are often blue-skinned: "like a divinity rising from the waters, her color helps to build a bridge between all the populations and cultures of the globe." Based in Paris, she now exhibits her photos all over France and the world: Paris, Nice, Toulouse, London, Los Angeles, New York, Dubai...
