A former professional printer, Mark Lovejoy has always been fascinated by the process of combining inks. Opaque white, ruby red, metallic silver and gold, deep black, Pantone green… He mixes each shade with precision, like a painter on a palette. In 2012, armed with a digital camera and 20 kg of printing ink, he launched an experimental project that has continued for years. He allows the dyes to naturally transform themselves and, with the help of various tools like forks, nails, and paintbrushes, he works on them before capturing them. Abstract and fascinating, the visual experience that emerges from this process is open to the viewer’s free interpretation.
