On his Instagram account, Rob Visser describes himself as a “photographer of forests and trees.” This is hardly a coincidence¬, as the photographer grew up in a heavily forested region of the Netherlands. One foggy autumn morning in 2016, he decided to set off at first light to take pictures in the forest. “I was immediately sold, got the well-known photographers’ virus,” he says, “and all of a sudden I went out early into the forest almost every weekend.” Specialising in forest photography from that point on, he developed his own style which hinges on his approach to post-processing. “For me, the photos really come to life with the necessary post-processing to further enhance the atmosphere and mood of the moment,” he says. “I try to give the photo the aesthetic of a painting so that it fits in well with an interior decor scheme.” In 2017, Rob Visser won the Dutch photography competition TV show Het perfecte plaatjes (The Perfect Picture), and in 2018 he won the contest run by the province of Brabant’s photo archive website.
