CAPTAIN SADNESS

Of Russian origins, Nodia Ilya was born in Urai in 1989, in West Siberia. He later moved to Omsk, a small city located a little further east, where he lived for around twenty years and trained as a technical engineer. This period determined the production of his first images and the early days of his professional career, which he began at the age of 23 in Moscow as an advertising photographer. He still lives in the Russian capital today and plies his trade in various fields, from portraiture to reporting, from wedding photography to studio shoots. His artistic work is inspired by the world of film and his images seem to stem straight from a film screening, in terms of lighting, costumes, sets, and the framings that all refer to the silver screen. Nodia Ilya presented his photographs in 2014 during an exhibition entitled "Portraits of Passers-by".
