When I was travelling back from Europe, I had an intimate aerial view of Hong Kong from above. Looking down, I saw gazillions of buildings soaring high into the skies and the idea of creating a drone series offering a glimpse into the reality of living in one of the most densely populated areas of the world just sprung to my mind. I hope this series can get people to think about the high-density living in one of the world’s richest cities and the message that I’m trying to send is that HK is a great city, but lurking beneath the prosperity is a severe housing problem that depresses every dweller in this city living in horrid conditions.

About the Artist
ANDY YEUNG
Born in Hong Kong, Andy Yeung is a young artist who has won numerous awards and whose artistic focus is mainly on architecture, landscapes, and aerial photography. This photographer, whose motto is to “always look up” has tirelessly captured modern buildings and constructions since obtaining his first camera in 2005, which he recently traded for a drone. He very quickly acquired solid foundations in technique and travels all over the world from the megalopolis of Hong Kong where he grew up, looking for inspiration. His work enjoys international recognition, thanks to his nomination as a laureate at the PX3 competition (2015), the International Photo Awards (2017), and the National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year (2017). Andy Yeung has exhibited in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. His images have also been mentioned in an array of prestigious media: Lonely Planet, Daily Mail, Business Insider, National Geographic, CNN, BBC, and the South China Morning Post, among many others.
