At the age of 18, Corentin Sauvage left his native France with the firm intention of exploring the world. For years, he rolled his stone from country to country, without ever forgetting to document his encounters. One day he was a photojournalist, the next an insurance manager, courier, application developer, or furniture mover… An atypical geographical and professional pathway in which experiences, ideas, and commitment are created, eventually resulting in visuals. His technique? Photography retouching. His specialty? Digital colouring of images from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. To express his feelings and go beyond basic images, the artist breathes new life into old photographs, teleporting them into a contemporary context. Alarm bells, humour, and messages of love punctuate the staging of these singular artworks.
