Lizuan’s path to fame came from Instagram, where his account (@rafagdsr) is followed by over 33 000 subscribers. A professional architect, he exercised this profession in Madrid for several decades before dedicating himself entirely to photography, in an approach that owes nothing to chance: “Photo has always been part of my life,” he said in an interview for Vogue Spain. “I used it all the time at my architecture agency to present a project or express an idea.” Quite logically, his photos now bear his architect’s gaze and his thoughts on the contemporary world: “I like to blur images and places that are immediately recognisable,” he says. “For me, that echoes our modern lifestyle, where we’re looking everywhere without really lingering on details, and it illustrates the confusion of the big cities, the noise and confusion that they cause.” While he’s amused by the fact that his decision to leave a comfortable role as an architect was “not understood by everyone,” he doesn’t regret his choice at all: “Architecture led me to photography and photography has revived my passion for architecture exponentially!”
