Michel Gantner reappropriates plant forms and colours, removing them from their initial environment in order to obtain a new subjectivity. He thus succeeds in conferring a surprisingly sensual quality to the flowers that he photographs. In order to be able to work in a simple and systematic way and compose his images without having to worry about his lens or how his subject is lit, the photographer limits his field of action to a “light box” without any other form of frontal exposure. The plants are sufficiently translucent for the light to infiltrate their contours.
