Born on 3rd October 1935, Charles Moss Duke known as Charlie Duke, was an American astronaut. He is to this day one of twelve men, and the youngest, to have walked on the Moon. After having obtained his Aerospace Research Pilot School diploma in September 1965, Duke remained in teaching as an instructor. In April 1966, he was one of 19 selected for NASA in the fifth group of astronauts. To date, he has logged 265 hours in space, and more than 21 hours and 28 minutes of extra vehicular activity.
