"Capture the magic of the moment. Seeing the unusual, capturing the unexpected, the fragile ephemeral. See what others don't always see, and bring it to light. Look for silhouettes that allow everyone to imagine themselves in the scene photographed.
Play with contrasts and framing.

About the Artist

Philippe AVIGNON
Philippe AVIGNON
Philippe Avignon is an avid amateur photographer. An HR manager by day, he has dedicated himself to photography for over 25 years and practices it in his spare time. In 2017, anxious to see "what his photos were worth", he took part in the Grand Prix International de Photographie de St Tropez where one of his shots, Showertime, was a finalist. Subsequently, he entered "the biggest photo competition in the world" for PHOTO magazine with the same success: several of his photos reached the final stage. This was enough to give confidence to this enthusiast who describes himself as a "hunter of moments". "To me, photography is about capturing something magical in the moment, grasping the unexpected and the fleeting" he explains, "seeing what others don't always see and bringing it to light." It comes as no surprise that one of the photographers from whom he takes inspiration on a daily basis is Garry Winogrand (1928-1984), known for his candid street photography. He equally credits Patrick Demarchelier (1943-2022), a fashion photographer who "[made] him dream" as a teenager, and also Irvin Penn (1917-2009) for his eclecticism, "it's this last one I feel closest to" he concludes.
