At the age of 30, while working as a designer of industrial machines, Stefan Rappo decided to enrol at the ETPA School of Photography in Toulouse. Both talented and motivated, he was able to skip the second year and after only three years, left for Paris with his diploma in hand. He then worked for the Pin-Up Studio and made a living from small freelance jobs, before being hired as an assistant for various photographers. He was spotted by Peter Lindberg who hired him as third, then second, and finally first assistant from 2011 to his death in September 2019. “Everything that Peter Lindberg does is carefully thought-out and studied,” he explained in 2018. “His ability to manage light and his relationship with people is incredible, but not only that, he also inspires trust.” This regular activity and proximity with the master has allowed him to successfully complete his own projects. He works for Aubade advertising and regularly creates projects on female nudes, one of his great passions: “You have to photograph what you love, and I love women’s bodies,” he says. No matter the subject, his photos are filled with grace and serenity.
