While he was working as an artistic director in the advertising sector, for over ten years, Clément Mérouani very naturally turned to photography. His favourite subject? The urban landscapes of big cities. Each new city provides him with a new photographic playground. “I love getting up before dawn and exploring the deserted streets, alone,” the artist says. “At that time of day, the places we thought we knew appear transcended.” The photographer explores the ins and outs of this unique atmosphere and, inspired by cinema, advertising, or graphic arts, he creates unique series of photographs in a style that he describes as “dark and moody”. Subject, composition, lighting, editing… From start to finish, he designs his shot in terms of aesthetics and emotions.
