About the Artist

JEREMY MATHIEU
This photograph is taken from Jacques Perrin's film The Seasons, which is about wild animals' relationship with European territories since the last Ice Age until the present day. In particular, the film highlights the resistance of animal life in the midst of environments that are constantly undergoing transformations through technological progress and human civilisation. Nevertheless, some vast plains, forests, mountains and waterways are still populated today by thousands of animal species. The images captured during filming reveal the way of life of the animals in an authentic and sensitive manner. Taken spontaneously, they constitute a testimonial and a record of an evolving animal world, which has been forced to adapt since the Ice Age to the cycles of the seasons of the earth and to climate change, in a Europe that is increasingly influenced by humans.
