Before becoming a photographer, Dheeraj Khandelwal was a computer engineer. He worked in IT for five years but his passion for photography soon took over, becoming his only occupation by the time he turned 30. “As an artist, I use photography as an art form to express my emotions,” explains Khandelwal, who was born and is based in Chennai, India. From his engineering background, he retained a taste for technology and gradually developed his art from photography to graphic design and what he calls visual storytelling: “It’s by creating visuals that superimpose several moments and several compositions that I feel at home,” he says. “This allows me to set off someone’s focus or maybe help inspire them to a new perspective.” His photos have made it to New York’s Time Square Billboard, the highly select LIFE Magazine Showbook Collection and shows in Italy, Japan and, of course, India.
