Rosario Civello discovered photography in the 1970s using his father’s old camera. His passion for nature in the broad sense first led him to studies and a degree in astronomy, from the University of Bologna. His passion for photography later won over, and he soon dedicated himself to it full time, with an acute taste for abstract art and precise compositions. Among the photographers who have inspired him: Franco Fontana, "for his landscapes", Mario Giacomelli for "his mastery of black and white" and Andras Gursky for his "hypnotic geometry". The work of Rosario Civello, living in Milan since 1994, falls within this continuity: “My natural tendency towards minimalism leads me to seek out the hidden order of things in visible chaos.” His work and photos have regularly won awards at numerous festivals, for many years. For instance, he was named Photographer of the Year 2015 at the fourth Zebra Awards, Discovery of the Year 2016 at the ND Awards, or Landscape Photographer of the Year 2021 at the third Minimalist Photography Awards. He now regularly exhibits in Italy and France.
