Astrophotography is a discipline where technical and scientific rigor meets artistic emotion.
Sébastien AUBRYAn amateur astronomer for over thirty years, Sébastien Aubry captures the wonders of the universe with poetry and precision. He practices astrophotography using smart telescopes, including those from the company Vaonis, with which he collaborates, and travels the world in search of the clearest skies to reveal the fragile light of distant nebulae and galaxies. Each image is the result of a long process of signal processing, combining technical expertise, artistic creativity, and scientific rigor. He thus creates reference images that push the boundaries of our view of the cosmos.

Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by discovering the universe. I was lucky enough to observe it through a telescope at a time when photography only existed in film form.
With the advent of digital photography, then smart telescopes, a new horizon of possibilities opened up. These portable instruments can accompany me on all my adventures.
Regularly exploring the four corners of the globe, I have thus gathered the ideal conditions to practice this discipline in exceptional locations, under some of the clearest skies in the world.
What inspires you, artistically speaking?
I deliberately avoid being overly influenced by images released by NASA or major European observatories. My goal is to create a unique image while remaining faithful to the nature of the subject. It's sometimes a balancing act, both artistic and scientific.
Anything special in terms of technique?
Most astrophotographers use pretty much the same tools to process their images. For my part, I incorporate alternative tools into my workflow, which offer greater creative flexibility.
The context behind the creation of this series
The search for the clearest skies on the planet to capture the essence of cosmic light and push smart telescopes to their limits.
Any anecdotes to share?
It was during this project that I had the chance to find myself under the clearest night sky I have ever seen, and to admire with the naked eye a dazzling Milky Way, displaying all its splendor. It was an exceptionally rare sight, one that is likely to become almost impossible to see in the coming years due to the constant increase in light pollution.
The photo you wish you had taken?
The one I'll take next time. I'm not envious of other people's photos.
Your latest reward/source of pride?
Being the ambassador for VAONIS smart telescope designers, and that they choose my images to promote their instruments.
What are your next projects?
To continue exploring other sites suitable for astrophotography.
