What is art if not that by which forms become style. Jean-Luc Godard
MallockA graduate in marketing, linguistics and semiology, he began his career in advertising as an art director and copywriter, before gradually turning to art. A true jack-of-all-trades, over the past twenty years he has published novels as well as an album of songs with Pierre Estève, and pursued a parallel career as a photographer. His singular style is a blend of blur and impressionist movement. He has given it a name: Morphéographies. And a definition: “Neither photographs nor paintings, the features and flat tints of these works belong to purgatory, to an undecided realm, between dream and reality”, he explains, “we no longer take an image, but an emotion, we no longer capture a landscape, but an impression.” These Morphéologies are now grouped together in three art books based around horse racing in Morocco, the Tbouridas (Ultima fantasy), summers by the sea (Mélancolie sur mer) and the gardens of Paris (Paris magnétique).
