Photography was not the first art to which Christopher Johnson devoted himself. It was somewhat by chance that this Californian student took a class on photography for beginners, during his studies in the Fine Arts – a great choice! Photo soon became his passion, then his career. Although he grew up on the shores of Lake Tahoe, in California, it was in Hawaii that he was “born” as a photographer. Moving to Big Island, he specialised in landscape and nature photography: “Tropical landscapes captivate me,” he explains. “I never tire of searching for the most creative photograph to take.” His photos are regularly exhibited or published in magazines in Hawaii and elsewhere. He is heavily influenced by photographer Ansel Adams, about whom he highlights that he “strove to show the beauty of the world to encourage us to protect it.”
