Julia WimmerlinAfter fifteen years in international marketing, Julia Wimmerlin devoted herself to photography in 2014. Ukrainian-born and now based in Switzerland, she has lived and worked across Europe and Asia. Her early practice grew out of travel photography, and, largely self-taught, she drew on her advertising background to shape clear, impactful visual stories. In the early 2020s, the pandemic travel ban, followed by the war in Ukraine, profoundly altered her worldview and artistic approach. Today, she works at the intersection of photography, contemporary fine art, and mixed media, playing with reality and pushing the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Her photographs have been published in major outlets including The New York Times, National Geographic, GEO, The Telegraph, The Times, The Guardian, Forbes, and Le Figaro. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has received multiple awards, including the ProfiFoto Magazine New Talent Award (Germany) and recognition at competitions such as the Tokyo International Photo Awards and the Prix de la Photographie Paris, among others.
